Michael & Jane

Michael and Jane have been married for 14 years and currently have three adopted children.

Birthmom Letter

Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity to introduce ourselves and tell you about our family. We are grateful that you love your unborn child so much that you are willing to consider an adoption plan for him/her.

We met in 1999 at a church gathering. We were married on August 3, 2003. God has richly blessed us over the past 12 years and the hard times have only brought us closer together.

Michael graduated from IPFW with a degree in Business Administration. He is currently employed in the accounting department of a company that owns over 300 gas stations. Fortunately, his job is only a few minutes from home, so he enjoys coming home every day on his lunch breaks.

Jane is a stay-at-home mom to our 3 sons, Deacon (7), Finn (5) and Scout (2). She loves being home with them during the day. We homeschool, so teaching a 2nd grader and kindergartner keep Jane plenty busy. When she has some free time, she enjoys sewing, baking and gardening.

Even while we were engaged, we discussed adoption. We both wanted to have a large family and planned on having several biological children before adopting. However, after 4 years of infertility, we began the adoption process in October of 2007. On April 3, 2008, Deacon was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. We began the adoption process again in early 2009 and on September 8, 2009, Finn was born in Anderson, IN. In 2012, we started the adoption process for a 3rd time and Scout was born on August 29, 2012 in Kansas City, MO.

We have varying degrees of contact with the birthparents. With Deacon’s birthparents, we have a very open relationship. They have both visited our home and we talk on the phone with them regularly. We are planning a trip to West Virginia in the fall to meet Deacon’s biological grandparents and extended family. Finn’s birthmother chose a closed adoption. We have not had any contact with her in several years. We have occasional contact with Scout’s birthmother. We believe that at least some contact with the birthmother is the healthiest for the child. Finn often asks about his “tummy mommy” and it is so hard to tell him that we have no idea where she is. While we believe some contact is the best, we are open to whatever you are comfortable with.

We cannot imagine the difficult decisions you have ahead of you. We want you to know that we respect you for choosing to give your child life. If you choose us, we will tell your child how much their mommy loves them and how brave you were for making the decision that you did. Our sincere prayer is that God’s perfect will would be done. We will continue to pray for you and your child.
